When You Like Lace - You Like Lace!

October 12, 2008

My friend Cindy Rushton told me she wanted to give her websites a new.  Some of her sites were already built with Wordpress and a few were still being built in HTML and she wanted to bring everything together with a cohesive flavor.

Her desires?  Lace, ribbins, tea cups and all things feminine!

All of CIndy’s websites have a lot of content to offer and she wanted to be able to display it creatively and let her visitors see a lot at a glance.  She choose the Revolution Magazine Theme for the project which was a perfect fit.

When all was said and done, Cindy had five deliciously sweet website themes that share a common style and layout with different colors.  She’s in love with her new look and we enjoyed the process of working with her.

A Fresh New Look for a Life Coach

October 1, 2008

We have just completed a project for Life Coach Aurelia Williams. She had a website built using SHMTL which is awkward to update and not easy for Aurelia to take care of. Since we moved her podcast program from HTML to Wordpress the past spring, she has been anxious to see what we could do with this site.

We kept her existing logo which is quite sharp looking and not at all dated in our opinion. We built the new website look around the logo and brought in warmer colors overall. Using the Revolution Magazine Theme, we created a site with clean lines and a professional look.

We moved all of her existing content into Wordpress and set up permanent redirects so that the old pages point to the new pages.

In addition to her Coaching Practice, Aurelia has written an eBook entitled Journey to Joy. Since this ebook appears on her sidebar, we decided to give that a fresh look as well.

This was a very enjoyable project to work on. Aurelia is a beautiful person with a great desire to help others. Now she has an updated web presence that will help her reach more of the people who need her encouragement and support.

Lastly, we provided Aurelia with some new graphics to use to promote her website and ebook.

Premium Theme: Flexible Fun for a Scrapbooking Enthusiasts Website

June 30, 2008

We just finished a fun redesign of Scrappers Talk Radio. Site owner, Vera Raposo, asked us to use one of the Revolution Themes for the project. She wanted a fresh design but to maintain some of the look her visitors were used to.

We were able to change up the shape of her website header to fit the Revolution Magazine Theme and we tweaked the colors of the theme to match.

Then we gave the home page of the theme a re-do. We didn’t want to use the standard set up and thankfully, Revolution themes are amazingly customizable. We kept the side bar the same but moved the home page sections around to display just the right content.

Cleaning up Categories

Vera’s site had a large list of categories so we asked permission to create five new ‘parent’ categories and sorted the existing categories (aside from the podcast and news) under them so that everything fit neatly on the navigation bar. This meant that we had to do a few permanent redirects to prevent existing search traffic from ended up on a dead link. The extra work was very worth it. The site is super easy to navigate and doesn’t look over cluttered.

Displaying Content Strategically

We created seven areas on the home page to display content. The top section pulls up the most recent podcast episode. Under that, scrapbooking articles appear. Then scrap-biz content and after that, there’s family news, other crafting content and a spot for recent news and recipes. The more important categories were give higher position and more space.

This set up gives all of her most recent content premium exposure and keeps her home page fresh for regular visitors.

Having Fun with the Design

The icing on the cake for this site is the extra ’scrap elements’ added to the different sections. They take the stark chunks of content and display them with beauty that their target market will really enjoy.
