Boost eBay Traffic with a Blog
September 10, 2008
We customized a free Wordpress theme for eBay Mom, Jenn Cangelosi.

When Jenn started blogging about her auctions she saw an increase in traffic to her eBay Store - both from the blog and from Google.
Following our advice, Jenn has written blog posts that include descriptive text and pictures of the auction and store items she wants to highlight. She created links on her side bar from the blog to the individual categories of her eBay store so that visitors could easily browse ‘what else’ she had to offer.
Jenn is enthusiastic about her results so far and has even done some interesting tests where she paused her product blogging for two weeks to see what changed. Sure enough, traffic slowed back down. The lesson is clear - keep on blogging!
Does Your Small Business Website Look Dated?
May 26, 2008
The internet is young but it’s age should be counted in dog years. The look of a website can grow old a lot sooner than you realize.
A dated look on the web sends the unfortunate message that your small business is not in tune with current business trends and technology. Not all businesses rise and fall on technology, but a fresh look conveys that you’re ‘on the ball’ and that speaks volumes to potential clients.
Giving your site a fresh look could be as simple as creating new graphics or as comprehensive as changing how you build and control the website and how many changes you tackle will depend on the current condition of your site.
It’s no secret that we are Wordpress Evangelists here at Freshnets. Creating a site in Wordpress gives it amazing flexibility. Once your site has been moved into Wordpress changes to look and layout are so simple to achieve there are no excuses for your web presence to end up looking dated.

What Can Your Small Business Blog About?
April 27, 2008
Having a static website is tantamount to posting a brochure on the web for people to read. It’s better than nothing but it falls far short of utilizing the internet to it’s full potential.
A good business website will be fresh, not stagnate. It will offer up the basic information that potential customers need which may not change all that often, but it will also offer up content that says ‘This website was not built and left to gather dust in 2002.’
How can a small business keep it’s website fresh by blogging?
Here are just a few quick ideas:
- Post seasonal tips that relate to your products or services.
- Post consumer news that relates to what you have to offer.
- Post advance notice about sales and new products.
- Post announcements about new staff members, promotions, awards and special recognition, etc. (This will be appreciated by staff members as it sends a message about their value to the business and it will draw local traffic as they share the post with friends and family.)
Do you worry about having time to post to a company blog? Any staff member with personable writing skills can serve as a company blogger within a minimal weekly time investment.
